La Mexicana Restaurant: Owner’s Alex and Gaby Quiroga have been serving up tasty Mexican Cuisine at La Mexicana restaurant on the north side of Yucaipa Blvd. for over 13 years.
A proud family owned business where the children , 14 year –old Ceaser, 11 year-old Alex III and 6 year old Jasmine are learning the business by helping out in the kitchen on week-ends.
The authentic Mexican dishes and sauces are all home-made by Gaby. The recipes however, are from Alex’s family, handed down from Alex’s Grandmother and Grandfather. They are all authentic, nothing from a can.
The food is why repeat customers eat at La Mexicana. Customers say the food is great and the prices are fantastic.
Specialties at the restaurant include chili-verde, beef, shrimp or chicken fajitas, shrimp cocktail (tomatoes, onion, cilantro, avocado, lemon, cocktail sauce and large shrimp) and the garbage burrito, otherwise known as Al Gusto, which is a whopping two-pound meat, beans, rice, lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro and cheese burrito served wet with sauce, cheese and sour cream.
In addition to the specialties, the restaurant serves combination plates with all the standards; tacos, enchilades, chili rellenos, tortas and taquitos.
Everyday the staff prepares home-made flour tortillas, which are also available for sale by the dozen. Warm corn tortilla chips and fresh salsa accompany every order and the attentive servers will continue to refill the bowls.
After the meal, there is a large assortment of deserts available. Horchata drinks and homemade flan by Gaby are some popular choices. Also, fried ice cream and chocolate chimichangas with cream cheese filling. There’s also the cookies and buenuelos; a deep fried flour tortilla drzzled with syrup, cinnamon and sugar.
Stop by for Breakfast for huevos a La Mexicana or machaca. On weekends, menudo and pozole are also available.
La Mexicana offers an array of drinks. Bottled beer, Bud and Bud Light on tap, customers can enjoy drink favorites like a greyhound, vodka tonic, mojito, seabreeze, pina colada and various martinis.
Daily Happy Hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
For Thanksgiving and Christmas La Mexicana sells home-made tamales that Gaby makes including strawberry and pineapple.
“We appreciate our customers for being so loyal and choosing to eat here” said Gaby. “Our prices are reasonable and customer say we have the best Mexican specials in town.”
La Mexicana also caters and will deliver free up to 25 miles. We do banquets, weddings, holiday parties and more. We work with the customers in their catering needs.

Shakey's Pizza Parlor: Chuck, the owner of our local Shakey's, has a passion for pizza. That's why he makes his pizzas using the original Shakey's recipes with fresh ingredients.
We offer the Bunch of Lunch Buffet during the day Monday through Friday with pizza, salad, chicken, mojo potatoes and more, and at night there are classic and gourmet pizzas, family meal deals and party packages.
The front of their take out menu states it well: Food, Families and Fun. Chuck takes a great deal of pride in the pizzas he prepares. He pays particular attention to the dough. There is a huge selection of toy options from the little plastic novelty to the CD player - which has been won before.
Like many other restaurants, food isn't the only thing we serve, it’s also community service. Shakey's has sponsored Lunch with Principal at several RUSD schools for years, participated in AYSO programs and is one of the original contributors to the Inland Food Harvest organization. So while this Shakey's is a franchisee, it’s not your typical franchise operation from their food to their community involvement.
